To help you plan your summer road trip this year, we’ve put together a list of the best roads in the UK to drive on. In part 1, we’ll look at the first 4…
The EVO Triangle is made up of the A5, A543 and the B4501 roads, offering some amazing views of the Welsh hills as it surrounds the edge of Snowdonia. With sharp corners and quick straight roads, this route is definitely one for the driving buffs out there. The road gained its name as it is often used as a test route by supercar magazine EVO, so you know it’s going to be good.
Potentially one of Britain’s most scenic routes, the Cheddar Gorge is part of the Mendip Hills in Somerset and offers wide open roads so you can enjoy the breath-taking views . Forged over 1.2 million years ago, it offers impressive views of England’s deepest gorge when driving the first section on the B3135.
North Coast 500
Dubbed as Scotland’s answer to route 66, the North Coast 500 is perfect for those looking for a lengthy road trip as the route totals 500 miles round the coast of Scotland. When tested on The Grand Tour, it received very good reviews, and when you see the amazing scenery coupled with the exciting twists, turns and winding roads, it’s not hard to see why.
Black Mountain Pass
The Black Mountain Pass is a 20 mile stretch of the A4069 that offers spectacular views of South Wales from the top and it’s river valley roads. A rollercoaster ride of a road through the Brecon Beacons, it connects the Llandovery with Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen. While you enjoy the scenery, be careful of wandering sheep in the road.
